SARA West! Society for Animal Rescue and Adoption or SARA is relocating to the Marfa/Presidio area soon. SARA is a sanctuary for unwanted and abandoned animals established in 1996. We currently provide a home for over 850 animals including dogs, cats, horses, pigs, donkeys, chickens, mules, cattle, goats, and a handful of exotics. We seek loving adoptive homes for all our animals, but when adoption is not possible, for whatever reason, the animals live out their natural lives at the sanctuary in the company of other animals and their human caregivers. SARA adheres to a No-Kill philosophy and only employs euthanasia in the true sense of the word: when an animal is suffering with no chance of recovery. We are open to the public at our current location and we look forward to welcoming visitors and volunteers when we open our far west facility between Marfa and Presidio in 2011.
