  Workshop
Description:
High Country Beef Cattle Workshop on Dec. 4 in Alpine. Dr. Ron Gill, professor and AgriLife Extension specialist, who is a recognized authority on livestock handling is one of the main presenters. He'll be speaking on the basics of low-stress cattle handling and herd-handling perspectives. He'll then conduct a cattle-handling demonstration, so people can actually observe what he is talking about. Dr. Bruce Carpenter will also offer new ideas and facility design for low-stress weaning. Carpenter is the AgriLife Extension livestock specialist at Fort Stockton. All-in-all it should be a valuable day for those in the beef cattle business." Registration is free, but organizers ask that those planning to attend pre-register by Nov. 30 so an accurate meal count can be made. To pre-register and for more information, contact Boswell at 432-837-6207, or Jesse Lea Schneider, AgriLife Extension agent in Presidio County at 432-729-4746.
