New Exhibit & Hiking at CDRI
Description:
The Chihuahuan Desert Research Institute invites the public to attend the grand opening of its new geology exhibit, titled �Our Dynamic Landscape: Geology, Culture, History� at their Nature Center and Botanical Gardens. The exhibit is installed on Clayton�s Overlook, the highest point on the Institute�s landsite, and is designed to encourage visitors to learn how to read the geological, cultural, and historical landscape of the Davis Mountains. The ribbon cutting ceremony is at 10 am, followed by guided hikes to Clayton�s Overlook. The hike is moderate to strenuous, but the panoramic 360 degree view at the top is well worth the effort. Refreshments will be served throughout the day. Bring a water bottle and wear a hat and sturdy shoes. The Nature Center and Botanical Gardens are located on HW 118 four miles south of Fort Davis. Ballroom Marfa Benefit

Friday, May 29-30: Tickets are still available for the Ballroom Marfa Benefit. The weekend begins on May 29 with a sunset dinner hosted at a local ranch with conjunto accordion master, Esteban Jordan. Saturday night we will all share a very special evening with Lyle Lovett and his Acoustic Group at the beautiful and intimate venue the Crowley Theater. Ballroom Marfa will host a special matinee screening of TWISTER (93') with filmmaker, Michael Almereyda, on-hand to introduce the film and participate in a Q&A; after the film. This event is free and open to the community. Crowley Theater, 2pm.
