Popular songs, classical music, and traditional sing-a-longs are in store for area residents to put everyone in the holiday spirit. Mark your calendars for the Christmas Concert which is planned for Friday, December 10th at 7 pm to take place at the First Presbyterian Church of Fort Davis. Back by popular demand are The High Notes Trio performing for the ninth consecutive year at the request of the Friends of Jeff Davis County Library.
The High Notes musicians of Alpine include Laura Finley playing flute, Jo Tucker on clarinet, and Dr. Michael Lippard playing bass clarinet, alto saxophone, and clarinet. The acoustics at the First Presbyterian Church enrich the depth of the wind instruments as well as provide a festive atmosphere with beautiful Christmas decorations.
Immediately following the concert, there will be hot cider and sweets for everyone. A small sampling from the "Put a Dream Under the Tree" children's book display will also be at the reception to promote reading for young people. Everyone is welcome to this free program.

Photographer George Brainard will present works from his new series, Food Animals, at the Marfa Table, on Saturday the 11th, 4 - 7p.
Brainards photographs look at the lives and the faces of the animals that supply our food. Although we eat everyday, too often we have no idea where our food actually comes from. With these photographs Brainard has taken his skills as a people photographer and applied them to everyday farm animals, creating beautiful black and white portraits. The images were made at three small family farms in Central Texas.
George Brainard is a sixth generation Texan whose photographs have appeared in The New York Times, The Times of London and numerous international magazines and advertisements. A former working musician, Brainard has shot over fifty CD covers. He is based in Austin, Texas.
