James Gadson, based in Los Angeles, is one of the most recorded drummers in R&B; and Soul Music history. Early in his career, Gadson performed with the legendary 1960s soul group, Dyke & The Blazers, and The Watts 103rd Street Rhyhm Band. He later worked with James Brown, Aretha Franklin, Frank Sinatra, Quincy Jones, Paul McCartney, Tina Turner, and B.B. King. He was one of the most sought-after studio drummers of the late 20th century, playing on more than 300 gold records.
