Cascarone Making Party

Description: Free Cascarone Making Party at MSA

Kids of all ages, 6 to 60, are invited to make Cascarones (confetti eggs) at Marfa Studio of Arts on Saturday, April 3, 1:00 - 3:00. Cascarones are hollowed eggs that are dyed, painted, or decorated on the outside and filled with confetti. The tradition of making cascarones is common in Mexico and Latin American countries during Lent. The custom of throwing cascarones is reported to have begun in Italy where men would fill hollowed out eggs with perfume and throw them at women to whom they were attracted. We will have lots of eggs but welcome party-goers to bring a dozen UNCOOKED eggs with them.

Marfa Studio of Arts is located at 106 East San Antonio (Hwy. 90) across from T & C. This project is funded in part by the Texas Commission on the Arts and the City of Marfa, Department of Parks and Recreation.
